The reasons why women with children become dependent on the social welfare office are manifold and individually different: lack of or unrecognized education, working hours that cannot be reconciled with childcare, no experience in the primary (Swiss) labor market, aggravating family circumstances or migration-related hurdles.

Often, these mothers, who are actually capable of working, fall through all the cracks of the system. The market gap fills this gap in the Zurich labor market with its integration program. At the Marktlücke, unemployed women can qualify for the primary labor market in sales / take-away, in gastronomy or in the handicraft production of design products, depending on their aptitude.

The Marktlücke team works with the women to find ways of combining childcare and gainful employment. It encourages self-reflection and promotes the initiative and self-confidence of the participants. It imparts specialized knowledge and social skills and coaches the women during the application phase and beyond.
