Our new waterproof swimsuit bags were designed and produced in collaboration with the Zurich-based women’s workshop MARKTLÜCKE. The workshop is located in the immediate vicinity and reinforces VOLANS’ desire to be in dialog with productions and at the same time promote the social and economic participation of women. The result is carefully handcrafted goods.
The reasons why mothers with children become dependent on social welfare are diverse and complex: a lack of recognized qualifications, working hours that are incompatible with childcare responsibilities, limited or no experience in the Swiss labor market, difficult family situations, or migration-related challenges.
Many of these women, although willing and able to work, fall through the cracks of the system. This is where Marktlücke steps in. Through its integration program, it addresses this gap in the Zurich labor market. Depending on their skills and interests, unemployed women can gain qualifications in areas such as sales and take-away, gastronomy, or the handcrafted production of design products.
The Marktlücke team works closely with participants to find practical ways of combining childcare and employment. The program fosters self-reflection, encourages initiative, and strengthens self-confidence. It also provides participants with technical knowledge and social skills, offering tailored coaching throughout the application process and beyond.
At VOLANS, this partnership is close to our hearts. We are proud of our collaboration and look forward to bringing many more meaningful projects to life together in the future.
