Behind the Swiss premium swimwear brand VOLANS is the mother-daughter team Mira and Ivon Blazevic. Their passion for swimwear and water has accompanied the creative couple all their lives and having their own brand fills them with great joy.

MIRA came from Croatia to Switzerland at the age of 19 and trained as a seamstress at CALIDA in Sursee. There she discovered her passion for sewing and designing. At the beginning of the 70s (1972) MIRA fell in love with a handsome hairdresser from Baden. They soon moved in together and started a family. Thanks to her training at CALIDA, she immediately found a job at the Swiss swimwear brand LAHCO, where MIRA worked for 44 years until her retirement in 2015. During this time she was not only sewing but was also developing and realising the designs for 18 years, which she always did with the greatest pleasure.

IVON, the daughter, grew up with LAHCO swimwear. As MIRA often talked about her work at home, she drew IVON under the spell of the swimwear world at an early age. IVON was fascinated and as teenagers the two of them were already designing bikinis together – for themselves and all their friends. It was a lot of fun and they were able to share a great passion with each other. IVON then also wanted to create swimwear, but was better at school than at sewing. So she studied business and worked as Head of Marketing in the beauty and fashion industry for over 15 years. After MIRA’s retirement and IVON’s search for meaningful work, the idea of their own brand reignited. With a lot of enthusiasm and great respect, they then presented the first VOLANS collection in 2018 and founded VOLANS Swimwear.

This story is the foundation of VOLANS and to this day they strive to create swimwear that meets the individual needs of women.

Together they are VOLANS – the flying fish, a constellation in the southern sky.
